Early March 2009

Los Badicales join forces with Powder Mountain Catskiing (http://powdermountaincatskiing.com ) once more for 3 days of unforgettable powder.
Not far from Whistler Blackcomb, BC, Canada in the Coast Mountain backcountry.

Big thanks to all of the PMC crew including Gordon, Don, and Ken; Our guides Nick, Jeff, and Simon; Our drivers Bailey, Pete, and Steve, and Mike the photographer. Also thanks to Miss Powder Mountain, Kate.

All of the footage was shot using my VIO POV helmet cam.

Sorry for the overexposed part around 3:30…I suppose the sun was too bright for the camera to capture a clear image.

The song is “God moving over the face of the waters” by Moby.

We’re already counting down until next season!

Layering tips? Will I need any special footwear aside from regular sneakers/waterproofed Uggs? Does anything need to be waterproof? What about what to wear in the snow if me & my posse decide to go up to Canada to ski/snowboard?

–Clueless from the Tropics

I live near Seattle now, and I used to live in Colorado. For snow, wear something that is as water repellent as possible, but still breathable, to get rid of sweat; severe cold + sweat = rapid hypothermia. Gore-Tex is great stuff, as is Polar-tec.

For Seattle, a Polar-tec jacket or something similarly capable of being layered is very useful. A parka with a hood is useful as well; only tourists carry umbrellas unless it is REALLY pouring. It helps to wear bright colors; Seattle can be very gray in December, and we only get about 8 hours of daylight, and you want to be visible on the streets, so wear light-colored things. Plastic shoe-covers can be useful if you’re going to be outdoors a lot; otherwise, your Uggs should do just fine.

You don’t have to go all the way to Canada for skiing (unless you just want to, of course); there is great skiing in the Cascades just east of Seattle!!
