Am flying into Calgary so I could buy one there if more of a bargain (am ideally looking for a quality 2008 season one) but fancy trying out a few in resort when I get to Banff.
Calgary might be cheaper, being a major city and all, but Banff is definitely a very popular skiing/snowboarding town and may have a better variety.
I lived in Banff for nearly a year and bought my snowboard set-up from Abominable Sports. I got a Salomon board, Head boots and Flow bindings for roughly $700 – not bad. They do packages there as well, buy a particular board and boots and get free bindings etc. Like most places they’ll have their specials and will also have last years designs on sale.

Do your research, figure out what you want and ring around. Also remember if you don’t find what you want in Calgary, you can rent boards and boots in Banff until you figure out what you want to buy.
